European Grants for Young Farmers

The Rural Development Policy of the European Union contains Measure 112, “Setting up young Farmers”. This measure makes young farmers eligible for grants of up to 25,000 euros, contingent upon the farmers being less than 40 years of age and actively settled on a countryside farm. 
The main conditions to access these funds are:

• The beneficiary must not be settled on the farm for more than one year to the date of the submitted project.
• The eligible farm size is between 6-14 ESU (economic size units), equivalent of 10,000-25,000 euros in grants.
• The farm can be up to 40 ESU, but the grant maximum remains 25,000 euros.
• The beneficiary must possess an agricultural education.

ROMCOM was the first consulting company to submit such project for Measure 112 in the North-West Region. The project's beneficiary was PFA Geczi Imre, and the title was, “The Acquisition of Agricultural Land and Equipment to PFA Geczi Imre Zsolt from Telechiu, Bihor”.

ROMCOM has developed 14 projects for Measure 112 with a 100% success rate.  The total amount awarded from these grants to our beneficiaries was 1,294,857 RON, with more than half the projects receiving the full 25,000 euros.

One of the successful projects was submitted by SC Agrobond LLC, a company founded in 2009 as a 63 cow dairy farm.  Agrobond will purchase milking room equipment, an electric generator, a mower, and a cereal mill with the grant money.  Following the investment, SC Agrobond LLC will build upon their success as a self-sufficient healthy milk producer.
