Mr. Les' dream was owning his own printing press. This dream seemed impossible before the 1989 Romanian revolution, but once the communist regime fell, his dream became a reality. He bought some old equipment and started a small printing press in his hometown. His business grew slowly at first.
The old equipment caused much difficulty the first year. He was eventually able to purchase some Romanian-made equipment that lasted for three years before losing efficiency and becoming obsolete. Mr. Les kept sight of his dream, though. He then acquired an off-set printing press from the Czech Republic and used it for a year and a half.
In 1994, a former classmate gave him some information about ROMCOM. “The support I got from ROMCOM had a tremendously positive impact on my business,” Mr. Les says. “I was granted a very efficient printing press, which I probably wouldn’t have afforded to buy on my own”. The equipment purchased using ROMCOM financing proved to be very efficient.
Mr. Les received a second loan from ROMCOM in 2001 and used it to purchase two additional pieces of equipment, doubling the capacity of his printing press. The business continued developing.
Today, Mr. Les has the number one printing press based on profitability, sales, and other various achievements. Mr. Les' principle has always been, “Quality by all means, and total quality management.”
Mr. Les's printing press has currently outgrown it's operating facility and new investment is required to expand. “There is only one way in business: growth. You cannot choose stability: that is bankruptcy. The market will soon demand us to increase our production capacity again.” He looks forward to continuing his relationship with ROMCOM through this expansion and everything the future holds in store.
The printing industry is a very competitive environment, exactly where Mr. Les thrives. He does not view tight competition as a threat, but as an opportunity to win in the quality war. He welcomes the competition because it forces him to remain vigilant and continuously improve his high quality standards.
Mr. Les also values his family. The consistency and profitability of his business is a direct result of all his family members being directly involved in the business as well as in the decision making process.
