La Origini with ROMCOM
Two years ago, Ramon and Dana returned to Romania and opened a combined children’s play area, dessert shop, and café in Ștei, beautifully crafted as only two artists could, and named it “Le Dessert.”
Our first encounter was at an entrepreneurship course in spring 2022, where Ramon shared in an authentic Transylvanian dialect his dream of creating something special in Oradea. Deeply connected to tradition, home, and his grandparents’ village, this concept of “returning to origins” began to take shape.
In December, we reconnected to make this new business vision a reality. Ramon searched for a suitable location, and ROMCOM took care of financing (from origins to grand opening 😊).
Origini is a unique gastro-pub/grocery concept featuring dishes and products from small local producers. For example, water buffalo and Mangalica pork are sourced from Colești, where the animals are pasture-raised in the Apuseni Mountains’ protected areas. Homemade spreads, syrups, and jams come from Săliște de Vașcău, prepared without additives, following traditional recipes. Cheeses are crafted in Rimetea, Alba County, using methods passed down through generations. Drinks include unpasteurized craft beer from Oradea and boutique wines from nearby vineyards in Biharia and Diosig.
“We took this step because we realized Oradea has few places that celebrate authentic Transylvanian products, and even fewer that serve food like our grandparents made. Our kitchen respects and perpetuates the culinary tradition of Bihor, adding value for both locals and tourists. Thanks to ROMCOM’s support, our dream came true sooner than expected,” says Ramon.
Origini opened in February 2023, located in Piața Unirii, no. 2–4, offering hot dishes like beef, buffalo, and Mangalica pork steaks, as well as cold platters with cheeses and cured meats. Traditional dishes, sweet treats from Ștei, and natural syrups, lemonades, and fresh fruit juices from local producers are all available.
